My Photo

Jerry Chan was born in Houston, Texas and is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
After moving to Beijing in 1999, he quickly got sucked into the China vortex.

Now that he finds it impossible to leave, he:

1. Relies on editing That's Beijing magazine (, an English language listings and entertainment magazine, as his means of subsistence;

2. Spends copious amounts of time dowloading MP3s and buying DVDs around town;

3. is ever-resisting the urge to break down into full-blown Sino-cynicism.

(by the way -- that's not me in the pic -- but a snapshot taken by a friend of an ex-colleague who now lives in Shanghai. I can't, for the life of me, remember his name, or how to get a hold of him - so if you know how (or happen to be him), send me an email so I can give him the credit)

Music (hip hop, funk, soul, Brazilian, reggae, ragga, dancehall, rock, some local Beijing bands), film (everything ranging from Pasolini to Scarface), basketball, relationships, reading, food, blogging, sleeping.
